Baluarte Women’s Association Conducts Benchmarking Activity at BFAR-NMC

In celebration of Women’s Month, the Baluarte Women’s Association from Baluarte, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, led by Brgy. Kagawad Hon. Carmelita R. Sabijon, conducted a benchmarking activity at the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources—National Mariculture Center (BFAR-NMC) in Panabo City.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by BFAR-NMC officials and technical staff, who facilitated discussions and field visits on mariculture park operations and value-added product development in the aquaculture sector. The visit aimed to enhance the participants’ knowledge of sustainable fish farming techniques and post-harvest innovations, aligning with their mission to empower women in fisheries and entrepreneurship. The benchmarking activity provided a platform for knowledge exchange, particularly in improving livelihood programs for women involved in fisheries-related enterprises.
The event concluded with a guided tour of the mariculture park, interactive discussions on sustainable fish cage operations, and a demonstration of processing techniques for value-added seafood products.
This initiative reflects BFAR-NMC’s continuous efforts to foster collaboration and promote inclusive growth in the fisheries sector, particularly empowering women as key contributors to economic development.
