The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources—National Mariculture Center (BFAR-NMC) recently hosted a benchmarking activity organized by the Local Government Unit of Nasipit in collaboration with the Ata-atahon Rural Improvement Club (ARIC). The event, held on March 18 and 19, 2025, aimed to showcase the newly finished Fish Processing Center.

As one of the FishCORE beneficiaries and local fish processors, the Nasipit delegation took this opportunity to observe and learn from the best practices implemented at the Center (BFAR-NMC). The benchmarking activity served as a platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building, particularly in developing a model Fish Processing Center for their locality.

BFAR-NMC staff warmly welcomed the participants and assisted with the activity. They guided the delegates to the Multi-Purpose Training Center, where they were introduced to modern fish processing techniques and standards. Participants were also given a comprehensive tour of the facility, emphasizing quality control measures, sanitation protocols, and value-adding practices.

Through this benchmarking initiative, the LGU of Nasipit and ARIC aim to replicate the successful practices observed at BFAR-NMC, contributing to their goal of establishing a state-of-the-art Fish Processing Center in their community.
